I'm a little late to the game on this one, but want to encourage you summer readers that learning continues...even when you're NOT in school!
So here is my top five learning experiences from the month of June.
1. I took the Strengthsfinder 2.0 test. You can access the online survey with a code when you purchase the book, Strengthsfinder 2.0 by Tom Rath. I had taken the test previously (1.0). This time, I gained a couple of additional strengths. Interesting. Anyways, here's my top five: Strategic, Activator, Maximizer, Futuristic, Learner.
2. Conflict teaches you about yourself, about others, and about the type of relationship you REALLY have with others. You never know the level of your friendships until you experience a conflict with that person. Conflict will show the level of intimacy, commitment, dedication the other person has invested in both the relationship and you. In fact, I don't think you can know how truly you are committed to another person until you experience some type of conflict.
3. Keep good records. This is important for taxes, conversations, notes from activities/events, and Little League scorebooks.
4. Discipline begets (that's a good Bible word) discipline. I am discovering that if I keep the discipline of exercising, then it helps me keep the disicpline of writing, which helps me keep the discipline of thinking, which helps me keep the discipline of learning....and so on.
5. Desktop Tower Defense is the ultimate time waster. I had a period of a few days where I spent more time playing this game then I did just about anything else. I think I am susceptible to the disease of video game addiction.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Are you learning something new every month?
SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT: Why not share what you're learning with the rest of us? You can add your nuggets of wisdom in the comments below or at Joyful Jubilant Learning.
