Whether you are in Junior High, High School, or College, you may not have built up much work experience when you go to put your resume together (Don't know what a resume is? Go here). The truth is, even if you haven't had a job for any length of time, you probably have experience in a lot of other areas.
Consider putting together a resume based on the following experiences:
Student Organizations/Committees You've Served On
Document your involvement in any student organizations on your campus, or participation on any committees. Involvement may have been in the form of a member, informal leader, or officer of a group.Community Service/Service-Learning
Includes volunteer participation at any non-profit agency for which you did not receive pay. This includes one time or on-going service, or a community service experience incorporated into an academic course (service-learning).On-Campus Volunteering
Includes any volunteer (non-paid) experience on-campus for recognized student organizations or at your school's events. This could include volunteering as security, an usher, a server at a banquet, etc.Health, Fitness & Recreation
Information about your participation on your school's sports team, club sports and/or intramural sports programs, Outdoor Endeavors, or other fitness and recreation programs that are offered by your Athletic Department or recreation progams.Honors
Any awards, certificates, Dean’s list, scholarships, or special recognitions that you earned while in school.Leadership Training
Participation in any conferences, retreats, seminar/workshops, or any leadership positions you served in that enhanced your leadership skills during your education.Additional Activities
Includes any paraprofessional involvement, such as internships, on-campus employment, study abroad, performing arts, exhibitions, etc.
One other thing I would recommend you place on your resume is a list of the personal character traits you demonstrated in the midst of your involvements. Such things as hard work, honesty, discipline, flexibility, leadership skills, integrity, communication skills, etc. Future employers are looking for what kind of person you are as much as what kind of skills you have (at least the good future employers are).
